June saw 30 of the members of the East Kent Light Blues join together and visit the quarterly communications meeting at United Grand Lodge.
The event is the time when the essential business of UGLE is presented and is a wonderful, ceremonial occasion welcoming dignitaries from many overseas territories. At the June meeting, we were lucky enough to witness the final time when the Most Worshipful Peter Lowndes was presiding. The meeting included announcing the latest appointments of the deputy grand masters. In addition to the essential business, we were treated to an interesting and humorous lecture by WBro Dr J Hawkins on the history between the Royal family and freemasonry.
The MW Pro Grand master then made a special presentation of The Grand Masters order of service to Masonry to WBro Malcolm Brooks, a member of United Service lodge (3124) in Sheerness for his long service to grand lodge and most recently as Grand Tyler. This was followed by a tribute to the work of the WM Pro grand master from a personal message from the grand master himself.
After the main meeting, members moved towards a nearby venue to enjoy some fellowship. We were also joined by 14 members of the current Provincial executive who were keen to share a fun, food, and fellowship with the EKLBB members. Although an informal meeting, the RW provincial grand master gave a tribute and thanks to chairman of the EKLBB club, Howard Griffin, and the team for organising the event and inviting the exec to join them.

The next event will be the exciting transfer of the new home of the EKLBB Lodge as they assume the warrant of the old Roffensian lodge on Friday 17th June 2022.
