The East Kent Light Blues Brothers has always stood out with their unique identity.
Right from the start, our logo showed what our club is all about: being friendly, informal, and a bit different from traditional Masonic groups. The fedora and sunglasses captured the “Blues Brothers” spirit and helped EKLBB become a club focused on friendship, fun, and welcoming newer Freemasons.
That identity has worked well for us, and it is still at the core of our updated logo.
But EKLBB has grown a lot. We started mainly as a social club, but now we offer a much wider range of activities across East Kent. In addition to our social events, we support learning, mentoring, charity work, family activities, better communication, and more ways for new Freemasons to get involved. Our look needs to show how much we’ve grown.
An update, not a replacement
We chose to update our familiar EKLBB logo instead of starting from scratch.
The fedora remains. The sunglasses remain. The Light Blue identity remains.
Most importantly, the club’s friendly, sociable character remains.
Instead, we’ve refined the design to give EKLBB a stronger, clearer, and more professional look. It now works well everywhere as we begin rolling it out across our website, social media, newsletters, presentations, clothing, banners, and other club materials.
If you know our old logo, you’ll still recognise it right away. The new version tells more about who we are now.
The meaning behind the new design
Every main part of the new logo has a reason for being there.
The light blue background keeps our club’s established identity and uses our official Light Blues colour.
The fedora and sunglasses keep the unique Blues Brothers style that has always made EKLBB welcoming, memorable, and different.
The Square and Compasses show that Freemasonry is at the heart of our club’s identity.
The red and blue patterned border is inspired by the special design found in Holy Royal Arch regalia.
The Triple Tau on the hat makes our Royal Arch connection easier to see and recognise.
All these parts together represent friendship, Masonic growth, and progress, while retaining the personality that made our original logo a success.
Making the Royal Arch more visible
Helping members continue and grow in their Masonic journey remains a big part of what EKLBB is about.
Royal Arch symbols were part of our old identity, but their meaning was not always clear. The new design highlights this connection with the red and blue border and the Triple Tau.
This doesn’t turn EKLBB into a formal Royal Arch group. It simply shows that the Craft and Royal Arch are both part of the same Masonic journey, One Journey, and it reflects our support for members as they learn, grow, and explore new opportunities.
The same club, with a stronger identity
We’re the East Kent Light Blues Brothers—a modern Masonic club built around friendship, engagement, progression and pride in Freemasonry.
Our look may have changed, but what matters most has stayed the same.
EKLBB is still a friendly and informal community for Light Blues across East Kent. We’ll keep creating chances for members to meet, make friends, learn, get involved, and enjoy Freemasonry.
